Machine Safety Engineer

Machine Safety Engineer at Omnifab: a position that fits your career plan?

As part of exciting custom projects initiated by clients from a variety of industries (industrial, petrochemical, mining, food, pulp and paper, agriculture, and more), you will be responsible for ensuring that industrial systems and equipment comply with current safety standards and that equipment is compliant. You will perform tasks such as:

  • Conduct risk assessments of equipment and machinery in various industrial environments.
  • Develop recommendations to improve machine safety in accordance with applicable standards (CSA, ISO, OSHA, etc.).
  • Design, validate, and implement machine safety systems (guardrails, interlocking systems, safety sensors, etc.).
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to integrate safety solutions into the design of new equipment.
  • Ensure that all machines and equipment comply with local and international regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety audits to identify areas of risk and propose corrective solutions.
  • Develop training programs for employees to promote good machine safety practices.
  • Participate in the drafting of safe work procedures and the development of action plans for equipment compliance.
  • Write detailed technical reports on the results of risk assessments and the solutions implemented.
  • Sign and seal machine safety plans.

What we expect from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with AutoDesk Inventor and/or other industrial design software (an asset).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in machine safety or industrial equipment design.
  • In-depth knowledge of machine safety standards (CSA, ISO 13849, ISO 12100, OSHA, etc.).
  • Experience in industrial safety project management.
  • Excellent risk analysis and safety system design skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different technical teams and communicate safety issues effectively.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment tools.
  • Fluency in French required
